A remarkable night

A few months ago, I got a message on Facebook asking me to call a woman regarding Jared. Did I know him? Am I in touch with him? Being the curious kid I am, I called. This someone turned out to be Rachael, a very kind person simply looking for a brother she'd never known. Can you believe that? Mister has 5 siblings that he'd never met (3 of which he still hasn't). The other siblings knew of Jared but never met him. They all share a father, though none of them have a relationship with him.
Jared had a very stable, blessed family life and was protected from knowing his bio-father. We don't even acknowledge this man. Jared's dad, Stacy, is legally and eternally all Mister needs as a father. We love him! It was funny talking to Rae and Thuy because I kept referring to Jared's dad and siblings. Yet, they are also his siblings...my brain still hasn't processed it.
I guess that's what makes this a sticky situation. We are okay with letting these new sisters into our world. But we don't know how to explain to the girls the relation. We don't want to confuse them.

Meet Bubble

I came out of my room one morning and found this scene. Haha! This is Goob's favorite friend, Bubble. And better yet, this is Shiny
Bubble. She is the replacement for the original who's "arms" (tags and ribbons) fell off. She has been strapped into Miles' high chair. I guess that says something about Goob's priorities: blanket then brother.

This goes out to the one I love

We had a most wonderful Valentines Day weekend!
Friday: Cousin Kyle watched the kids (the girls loved him!) while Jared and I saw a movie with Heidi and Handsome. It was great to get out and be a person! I embarressed Jared at the movie because I was laughing too loud. Sorry Mister. We finished our date with ice cream at Sub Zero - they freeze cream with liquid nitrogen. The guys weren't thrilled by the ice cream itself. But they liked the liquid nitrogen...boys are silly.
Saturday: We gave the girls their "Valentime's:" Glitter scrapbook paper in a few colors for Noodle, Elmo and Abby Caddaby books with Elmo hair pretties for Goob, and tissue paper for Mr. Magoo. :) I got a Willowtree angel, chocolates, and cards from the kids. Mister took the girls shopping earlier in the week for my gift. Sweet, huh?! That night we all vegged together in our jammies watching Incredibles.
Sunday: We stayed home feeling not so swell. But it was a happy day. I cannot honestly remember more than that.
Monday: Drove to SL to buy a welding torch (I think) for Mister. One of the plow guys banged up the blue truck and it's just gotten to the point that Mister needs to be able to fix little things like this himself. Then we stopped at Roberts Crafts because Mister loves me!!!
We decided to drop by my parents house to visit. They're sick too. We stayed quite a while so the kids could get their Grandparent fill. They fed us dinner (thank you!), and it was home for us.

The kids and I woke up this morning sick as can be. None of us are out of our pajamas. I changed all the bedding in the house because we had 1 vommit, 2 baby puke, and 2 pee. Yikes! And here's a little shout-out to my hero: Mom T, you rock. Thank you so much for helping me all morning! I did get another mini nap. :)

I want want want (it's a song)

Mister and I run a grading/sprinkler installation/snow removal business. I am in charge of accounting. I am used to doing it, and I’m pretty good at it when I want to be. But I’m a disgruntled employee. My current whine: my desk. It’s a folding table that Mister went “Dumpster Diving” after at his old job in AK. Eww.
Here’s why I deserve a new desk:

  • The “modern” gift for 7th wedding anniversary is a desk set. (Can you believe we’ve been married 7 Years?!)

  • This one is icky.

  • If this is where I make money for the business, I should be able to spend money from the business for it.

  • I am good enough. I am smart enough. And by golly, people like me!

  • I’ve saved $80 of my own.

Cute, huh?! The thing is, I really think the desk just bigger than this would be better. But it only comes in normal colors like wood. I love the red! So I guess it's a good thing that I don't have all the money yet since this isn't what I really want. But it's fun to dream!

Dancing Dramatics

Goob and I take a Mom&Me dance class every Thursday. We lost our permanent teacher in November and have had substitutes since then. And let me just say that it’s been, well, not so fabulous. I question why I even pay them money for what they offer. They turn on the same CD and we do the same thing every week. I lead and the teacher gets paid. But I do it because of the smile on Gooby’s face.
This week I decided that I needed to do something. I wrote an e-mail to the studio directors with some class suggestions. The response was that they are delighted with the class as it is. And since I am unhappy, they’d be happy to suggest other Mom&Me programs that we can go to. They’ll draw up the papers for me to sign to drop the class. In other words, I am politely being kicked out of a 2-year old dance class!
Ever hear the saying, “Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned”? The way I see it, I’ve paid for the rest of the month. So I’m going to go to let the other moms know what’s happening: because of my critique, it was “suggested” that I leave. And I’ll suggest to them that they leave also.
But I suppose all’s well that ends well: we’re enrolled in a new program at the gym next door to dance! I hope she’ll love it. I am hoping that Goob’s smiles are because of the Mommy-time and not just dance class.

Introducing...

Since this whole blog thing is named for my little people, I thought I'd introduce them!A B C
A) Goob, age 2. She is a riot! She's started speaking English (as apposed to Chipmunk) and she just says the silliest things. "Hey! Wait for me!" "I want soda." "Later, Papa." Her hobbies include sucking her tumb, loving her blanket named Bubble, and loving her siblings so much that they both cry.
B) Noodle, age 4. I'll admit that when we're alone, she is SO wonderful. But with her little brother and sister around, she isn't the most pleasant. She prefers her ideas, desires, and ways. Most anything else just isn't acceptable. :P However, she is quite talented: she can answer the phone and talk to whom ever is calling, she is beginning to grasp reading concepts, she's a rockin' gymnast, and gives the best snuggles a mommy could ever need!
C)This is my "boyfriend," Mr. Magoo (6 mo). He is the sweetest little guy. His sisters adore him from 7am-8pm. Night time is iffy because he isn't quite sleeping all the way through yet. He enjoys rice cereal with a Similac mix-in, a warm bath, and singing.

avoiding responsibility

I am actually creating this entire thing because I am avoiding my "job." I just don't like doing accounting 1) this late at night. 2) by myself. 3) when I know that I'm not going to like the end result. I have Facebook-ed all I can stand. I've read friends' blogs. I did a little online window shopping. I've even counted the kids' piggy bank money for deposit. Some would say that I should just buckle down and get to work. I say: find something new to do! And here I am. :P
